My Bio

Euan Blackman is a dedicated classroom teacher and servant leader.

Euan came from South Africa, immigrating to the United States seeking greater opportunity. After a successful 12-year career managing multimillion-dollar budgets at AT&T and CompUSA, he followed his true calling into teaching. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from UT Dallas, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

For the past 22 years, Euan has taught physics, chemistry, and biology in public schools, including five years at Berkner High School in RISD. His students consistently outperform averages — posting a 98% passing rate on state assessments for four straight years in a diverse Title I setting.

Euan has demonstrated a personal and long-standing commitment to RISD. For nearly a decade, he has volunteered on key district committees, including the Bond Steering Committee, Community Budget Steering, Equity Council, and School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). As President of the Richland Park Neighborhood Association, he works to strengthen southeast Richardson communities.

At home in Richardson, Euan and his wife Laura — a fellow teacher — are proud parents of Parker, a J.J. Pearce High School alumnus. Together they understand the challenges and joys of public education from the inside.

My Key Issues

Teacher Pay

Protect Classroom Dollars and the Teachers Who Earn Them. I helped build the teacher pay plan that cut turnover from 17.4% to 11.5%. Every dollar should reach the classroom—and I’ll make sure you can see where it goes.

Academic Achievement

Raise the Bar for Every Student From AP Physics to inclusion classrooms, 23 years of 96%+ pass rates taught me this: high expectations plus the right support closes every gap. That’s what I’ll bring to RISD.

Social Emotional Learning

Give Kids the Time and Support to Thrive Two recesses a day. A full lunch. Time to breathe, play, and grow. Because kids don’t learn to handle life from a worksheet—they learn it from each other.
